Item 2: Song
Over the rainbow – Judy Garland
Lyrics:
Somewhere
over the rainbow, way up high
There's a
land that I heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the
dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up
where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly,
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly,
Birds fly
over the rainbow, why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow,
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow,
Why oh why
can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why oh why
can't I?
Rhetorical devices:
-
Metaphor:
Bluebirds (happiness); a place that skies are blue, troubles melt like lemon
drops, etc. ( a happy land)
Massages:
This song is
first sung by a little girl in the film The Wizard of Oz with her clear voice.
It expresses the girl’s dream of a happy land somewhere over the rainbow
without her troubles in the real life. This dream is seem to be so childish and
impractical, but the lyrics such as “If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the
rainbow. Why oh why can't I?” is very optimistic and strong. That’s why this
song always brings strength and hope to everyone, after they listen to it. It
reminds us, anyone can reach his/her dream although life is so difficult.
Because little weak bird can do it, why can’t us?
Item 3: Fable
The mouse, the cat, and the rooster
A little
mouse went into the yard, she walked around and then went back to her mother.
_"Oh, mother, I saw two animals .One frightening, the other nice.''''
_"Tell me what the animals were like" said the mother.
_" The frightening one was strutting about the yard" said the mouse."He had black legs, a red comb, goggled eyes and a hooked nose. When I past , he opened his beak, raised his foot and began to shout so loudly that he scared me stiff"
_" That's the rooster", said the old mouse."He never does anyone any harm. Don't be afraid of him. But what about the other animal?"
_" The other one was basking in the sun. He had white neck and smooth grey feet. He licked his white chest and waved his tail gently as he looked at me"
_"You are a silly thing!" said the mouse." That was the cat"

Rhetorical devices:
-
Metaphor:
The mouse, the cat, and the rooster ( human)
Massage:
We mustn’t judge
people through their appearance.
============================================
- item 1: I think you should make it clearer about the rhetorical devices. For example, a particular scene or a detail of the plot
Trả lờiXóa- item 3: I agree with your analysis, however, I want to add that sometimes we people, usually kids, misjudge others by not only by their appearance but also their seem-to-be characters and things aren't always as it may seem
- I like your message in item 2
On the second item, I think there are some other rhetorical devices -repetition: somewhere is over the rainbow, bluebirds, why can't I.
Trả lờiXóa-rhetorical question: why can't I?
The message is ok: all of us have a right to dream and hope :))
